Chalet in St Chaffrey
We went to look at a lovely wooden chalet in St Chaffrey, owned by the lately retired Briancon Post Master General. Could perhaps be good for a couple of people we know who are looking for chalets in the area. They have had an offer, however, from a Parisien couple but they are having trouble with the finance and as the interest rate went up last week by 1%, this sale may fall through.
We did have a quick ski this morning. I had an incident on the chair lift, however. It was very icy, being first thing and the three of us all snowploughing together caused a problem for me who was in the middle. As I got pushed out behind, my snowplough got larger and larger, my skis failed to unclip and I ended up in a heap on the ground with my legs in a very awkward position. Add to that the fact that lift man failed to notice and suddenly I saw the next chair come whipping round towards me, I then had to bend over to try and miss it. Luckily I was wearing my new “casque” as the chair knocked past my head before coming to an abrupt stop just behind Chris and another. I then struggled to get myself back up on my feet feeling very foolish. Chris’ chair friend was from Israel, staying at Club Med. He remarked at the amount of mad and fast skiers in the valley. It won’t be long before there are piste police I should think.
