we won’t be skiing again until next season

Sunday 11th March

Again I dropped Alex off early at the Casse de Boeuf lift so that he could get that black run in early. He managed it twice as it is not in such direct sunlight as the Luc Alphand. Chris decided to take my skiing in hand as a last chance and after trying a few different ideas we decided to ditch the arms and concentrate on squashing the oranges. I must say that I finally began to get my edges in and began to carve properly. Lauren needed some adjustment to the cant of her boot but was still experiencing some discomfort in one leg. She and Lin skied back to the car and Lauren swapped to blades which were a lot easier until she hit a semi-slushy slope that was like skiing through piles of damp granulated sugar. Alex continued to tick off every piste on his map whilst honing his jumps and backward skiing – oh, the folly of youth! Unfortunately the weather suddenly turned bitter and all of us chose an early finish, even Alex who skied to La Grotte to watch the England versus France rugby match. Fortunately it was our lucky day and England won. Apparently the bar quickly emptied of French supporters.

The end of the week comes round too quickly and it is sad to think we won’t be skiing again until next season. Many thanks again to Lin and Chris for their hospitality.
